First things first, I am absolutely not a designer. Designers are wonderfully creative people who make everything look beautiful, whilst my artistic abilities are shall we say, fairly limited!
However, as a virtual assistant and social media manager, I need to be able to produce quality graphics for both myself and my clients. These graphics need to look professional and be consistent with brand guidelines. So, how does a girl who nearly always used to come bottom in Art class get by? In this article, I want to show you some of my favourite apps and tools, which will make your life so much easier!
Canva is my ‘go-to’ website for creating great-looking, professional graphics. With a whole host of pre-sized templates for pretty much all of your marketing material, you can’t really go far wrong with Canva. I normally choose to upload my own images but there’s also a great selection of pre-loaded images to choose from, which are either free or cost just $1 each.
Coolors is a fairly new one for me but I absolutely love it! The easy-to-use website helps you to create gorgeous colour palettes for your design projects.
WordSwag is the perfect app to use whilst you’re on the go. You can either upload an image from your phone or choose from one of the free backgrounds, add some text and you’re good to go. There’s also a handy watermark feature so that you can add your website address or social media details. Plus, the app has recently been updated so you can now use your own specific brand colours.
For high-quality and completely free stock photos, Pexels is my first port of call when I’m looking for beautiful images to complement a blog article or a social media post. The website is really easy to navigate and I nearly always find what I’m looking for on Pexels.
If you fancy creating animated posts for social media, you should give RIPL a try. Upload your images and text, choose a design, add some hashtags and you get a professional and eye-catching animation!
I hope this article has provided you with some inspiration. If this artistically-challenged girl can create great graphics, then so can you!
